Unleash Your Inner Goth With a Gothic Wedding Theme

Ever thought about having a different kind of wedding? If you want a unique wedding theme, then why don’t you try a gothic wedding? Although you have to consider this carefully as this theme may not be suitable to some people. Bordering on the darker side of human nature, a gothic wedding is often associated with dark colors and ancient symbols.

Clothes

Although gothic themes tend to use dark colors, feel free to wear a white wedding dress. Use red or black as accents, instead. Or you may want something a little sweet, like a mix of pink and black. Choose between royal purple and midnight blue, or a combination of jet black and blood red as colors for your bridesmaids’ dress.

Decorations

As with a traditional wedding, flowers works well with a gothic wedding. Vivid poppies, with their red petals around a black center, are perfect for a black and red gothic wedding. For a more traditional gothic effect, spread some red rose petals around the venue. Or try some dead flowers on thorny branches. Don’t forget to incorporate gothic symbols, such as crosses, stars and ankhs, as well as skulls, bones and gargoyles in your decors.

Food

You may serve almost any dish, just keep the presentation consistent with the gothic theme. For example, you may decorate each plate with black roses. Decorate your wedding cake with red, teardrop jewels to create an impression of drops of blood.

Choosing a wedding theme is a matter of taste – yours. So if you are okay with a gothic wedding theme, then by all means, get on with it. Just let your guests know (through the invites, perhaps?) what to expect so they wouldn’t be shocked by your gothic ideas.
