I do like when people try to do recorded music at weddings it always sounds distorted especially outside. You could higher a person to play some music for only the ceremony and it would be really inexpensive. It would be more elegant. You could do a classical guitarist that way they could do a song that you like. Maybe have someone sing auccapella while you walk down the isle.

I bought a cd called The gift of love by Christopher West it is piano music. The second cd has songs on it like the rose, butterfly kisses, as two become one. It is definatley upbeat and elegant all at the same time. Check out the music samples for yourself.

Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden

    At Last by Etta james

If I Only Had a Brain by Harry Connick jr. (listen before you laugh)

Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole (would also be a great recessional)

Piano music from Ryan and Tim O`Neill (oneillbrothers.com)
I especially like The Bottomless Well and Fire of Love

If you do not want recorded music (and an earlier poster had a good point about distortion etc.) call the music department of the local college or university (someone is bound to be around) and see if a string instructor can get a quartet together or a brass instructor can get a brass quintet (which I had) for the ceremony.

I then had a keyboard brought in and a pianist at my garden reception but you could try the mp3 thing there esp if you are having a dance.

    Food:

I would not go with the messy bbq thing but you could do elegant appetizers. I am picturing finger food even if everyone will have a table setting and even moreso if not.
